Becoming a Freemason

Membership is open to men age 18 and older who believe in a Supreme Being and meet the qualifications and standards. Men of all ethnic and religious backgrounds are welcome.

That being said, membership is not easy. If any single mason anywhere in world for any reason objects to you joining then you may not join. You must endure a background check and be free of any defect of record or character that would call your moral standing into question. Before you even get to that point however you will need to spend a considerable amount of time getting to know the members of the lodge.

You can meet us at our monthly dinners but it is strongly encouraged, if you want to become a freemason, that you ask members for their contact information and take the initiative to contact them and request a meeting to chat about membership. This is likely the only way anyone will get to know you enough to feel comfortable signing your application.

Many men walk through our doors with varying levels of interest ranging from mild curiosity to burning desire. Our system is design to filter out all but the most persistent and interested. We do not cater to those who are simply curious nor have we ever in our 500+ year history.

One of our traditions is that we do not solicit members. Men must seek membership on their own initiative. If you make the decision to join, ask someone for an application. You may need to ask several times before getting one.

There is no point however in asking for an application until you have gotten to know at least two of the brethren well enough that they would be willing to stake their name unpon your honor and sponsor you to join our fraternity.

Once you submit an application that has been endorsed by two members, the lodge will execute a set of protocols designed to evaluate your fitness to join our ranks. This can in some cases take up to 3 months to complete.

If found worthy, you will be iniated into the fraternity. This however is just the first step of three to become a master mason. You will not be a full member or entitled to attend business meetings or vote until you become a master master. The process to become a master mason requires a substantial amount of time not only from you but from the lodge. It is for this reason that we take great care in the selection process.

You will be notified of your acceptance as a candidate for the degrees, and you will receive instructions about participation in the three degree ceremonies. The degrees explain Freemasonry and give you the opportunity to experience our lodges traditions and fellowship. When you complete all three degrees, you become a full member.
